- Tee-shirt to all competitors, Heaps of Random Draws, Scrumptious Lunch, Unbelievable Scenery, Prizes galore.
- Race Briefing - 5:30PM Rego, 7PM Briefing – Saturday at Mission Beach Resort, Wongaling. ESSENTIAL ATTENDANCE
- You will sign a DECLARATION, RELEASE AND WAIVER when you register.
Overview
- Paddle to Dunk
- Run Mt Kootaloo and Coconut Beach
- Paddle to Mission Beach
- Ride north on the beach and return via the Licuala Forest track
- Run Lugger Bay, Tam O’Shanter Point and Hull River and return to South Mission Beach
- Long Course – 6 hours – 12km paddle, 23km MTB, 17km run
- Short Course – 4 hours – 8km paddle, 23km MTB, 11km run
- Individual or Paired Teams [side by side, complete whole course together] or 3/4 person Relay Teams [take turns to complete course]
- Under/Over 40 categories
Paddle
- Craft – anything goes here: skis, sit on tops, ocean kayaks, outriggers. No motors or sails.
- See above for suggestions if you need to hire a craft.
- If you are doing a Paired Team entry ie. side by side, you may use a double craft.
- No doubles for individuals or relays.
- Yes, some are faster than others but there will be no compensation. We are here to have fun eh!
- You must wear a type 2 or 3 PFD. That’s everyone (for insurance reasons)
- Take drinking water.
- Put your craft on the Dunk Island spit where the marshal in pink indicates.
- Check in at Spit
- Run on Dunk:
- Relay team Runners will be taken to Dunk at 6.45am.
- Follow the signs from the spit to the start of the walking track. Look for pink signs and listen to the marshal. See map below.
- There is a check in at the top of Kootaloo and on Coconut Beach (for LC only)
- Take water.
- There is a toilet at the camping ground.
- Paddle back:
- Check in at Transition
Bike
- You must have an Australian approved helmet & it must be on and secured at all times.
- A race ready pre-serviced bike. It will be checked at transition.
- A loop bike course has been put together to avoid the out & back problems.
- Give way to cassowaries. (I am serious!)
- Follow all signs and directions from marshals. All in pink – except SES (orange) and Qld Parks
- and Wildlife Officers (green) and police (umm ….blue.)
- check in where Licuala track meets El Arish/Mission Beach road.
Run Kennedy Walking Track.
- There is a toilet and tap at the boat ramp at the start of the track.
- Take water.
- Out and back course means those going out give way to those going back.
- SC check in at shed at T O’Shanter point LC check in at Hull River turn around.
- Make sure we get your number when you finish.
Relay Teams
You will pass a wristband to your team mate only at the designated changeover points.
- On the spit at Dunk (paddle 1 to run 1 and run 1 to paddle 2)
- At Transition (Shelter Shed) for all other changeovers (paddle 2 to bike, bike to run 2)
- Your last runner will receive a finishers medal when they cross the finish line, Make sure you get yours too from the officials tent.
More Good Stuff…..
- All competitors will receive a finishers medal, all you can eat yummy food and drinks and entry into the Random Draws. You must be there to collect your prize.
- We will have a coffee stall open all day selling coffee, tea and yummy treats. Spectators can also buy food, and families can enjoy the activities provided for them on the beach.
- The Mission Beach Monster markets are on that day, so you might be able to sneak off…..
