Saturday and Sunday March 12/13th saw the hamlet of Tinaroo hosting Adventure Sport NQ members and friends for the second Adventures on a Summers Weekend. 169 people registered for the weekend and the 6 events on offer were well supported. This is an event that should grab our Trail Runners and Multisporters attention. 21.1 km of some of the north’s best trails will feature in the June 25th Man v Machine foot race against a Steam Train from Freshwater to Kuranda.

Our own Roy Willetts from It’s Extreme has converted many runners from traditional running shoes to the svelte look of the bare foot shoe. If we convince ourselves of the enormity and certainty of our positive thoughts – how great it feels to be running amongst such stunning surroundings, the joy of the downhills, the satisfaction of running up and over the uphills, lungfuls of cool, cloudy mountain air, the generosity of volunteers giving up their time, how much easier this will be next time as a result of our efforts this time and of course cold beer – our negative thoughts such as those focusing on fatigue, pain or the remaining distance become minor considerations rather than overwhelming obstacles.

The opportunity to be at the first Gold Rush 42 km event was a good opportunity to compare it with similar distance events that I have ran before.

The five fingers have done it again with Chris White taking out the Gold Rush premier 42k event.
