Bring on the Challange,
Well the Barron is at a perfect level, weather even better and water temperature more than excellent for a swim!!!
for those who did a practice from Koah to Kuranda today, swimming was an involuntary expedition at two of the three big drops!
will be a challange to have the arms and back make the distance.
awsome event coming up.
Reports coming in from teams practising the lower section support the advice given to practise line choice down all white water.
Early bird Registration closes Tuesday Midnight.
A unique Glass paddle awaits all who finish the whole distance before 5pm.
There will be some disappointed paddlers.
Check out Brett Wilson Photo and comments on the rapids at Oak Forest –
$166 entry for double canoe! Thats a bit expensive for a recreational class entry fee isnt it? Would loved to have joined otherwise.
Tinaroo Canoe Club researched the other Classic Australian Downriver races and wanted to stage the inaugural race without Compulsory charity raising and without restrictive sponsorship. Time will tell if the character of the BRC50 will be supported by skilled endurance paddlers who wish to earn a BRC50 Paddle. We are a non profit club affiliated with QC and if by perhaps the 3rd running of the BRC50/12 were are in the black financially then all proceeds would continue to be spent on courses, craft and equipment intended to entice the community to canoe/kayak. Thanks for feedback though!
I agree totally Bro. I have done a few of those charity events (Murray!) and they are over rated as events.
Good luck with building your event and as they say “build it and they will come”. Or was that Waynes World!
A great event it will be.
Great Stuff
How did it go? Where are the results? Any footage? Any broken boats?
Did any of the older try hards (now ski paddlers) have crack at it or did they leave all the glory to the Southerners?
Careful I hear a WA contingent (real adventure paddlers)are sniffing out the event for next year.
All the best from Bro Town

What happened to you? I had great hopes for you.
I heard you succombed to “clenching porcelain syndrome” due to one of Marties Vindaloos.
Oh well there is always next time. Those photos of the rapids you took look great (no furphy intended).
All the best from Bro town.
